and a moron

This is a chat of my mom trying to get the phone working. If you've ever seen those commercials for "20 DOLLARS A YEAR PHONE" don't fall for their tricks. Well then again my mom is the reason the phone doesn't work half the time. If you look towards the bottom of that chat you can see she can't follow simple directions. But here's the best part. She's had chats like this on at least five other occasions. It's just that this time she showed how huge a moron she is when she goes and deletes the fucking drive and now it doesn't work at all.

I like how toward the end she kept typing all in caps and started demanding to speak with her supervisor, like it was her fault.

My mom can be a moron, too. She's technologically incompetent, but can follow directions, unlike yours. That said, she'd try fixing the problem herself first and usually end up making it worse, though she wouldn't mess with anything that looks like it has consequences, such as "Erase."

My dad is equally incompetent but won't even click something without knowing exactly what it'll do, and he bothers to read manuals.

That's hilarious, you should feature it on the new Family is Hell site when it gets up this weekend.

I got to line 79 and I was done. Sorry, but shit like this makes me rage.

I may come off as a tech snob, but Ive dealt with plenty of people that ask me for solutions to the same problem over and over. The first few times I bite my tongue and sit through the process, but it gets very fucking frustrating when people cant follow directions. My mom isnt as bad as most people. She probably learns things by the fifth time.

I just cant fathom how people will go out and actually invest in a new computer and not know anything about it. For example, you have a car, you change oil, buy gas, wiper fluid, coolant, etc. and thats all do-able. But some people think its beyond them to learn how to use something that is ALREADY so simplified.

Speaking of problems and wanting to talk to an admin, polite...

The Notifications tab of the profile doesn't work properly, which I'm assuming is what's needed to turn off the feature that sends an email when my posts are quoted and whatnot.

Though I have the feeling this isn't news and it's just further down the list of things to be worked on.

That should be up this weekend, hopefully.
