Forum - Crobat counters Scizor?
A disturbing gamefaqs thread has brought to my attention about something odd...

Anyway, apparently CBzor with Technician/Adamant/Bullet Punch/max Atk EV's will only 3HKO Crobat with no HP EV's/Def EV's and without SR support. In turn, Crobat can counter with Heat Wave which as we know will OHKO Scizor. This doesn't make sense, but calculations don't lie. I ran the calculations on metalkid. Max Attack (394) Scizor, Choice Band, Technician VS Min Defense (165), Min HP (311) Crobat, Leftovers (tbh, I'm not sure about these) Defender HP: 311 Damage: 132 - 155 Damage: 42.44% - 49.84% Now, either a bunch of people are making poor calculations or someone discovered something very amazing. This bat can take a hit from CBzor (one of the most threatening pokes in this gen) than a feared Dragon (I'm talking about Salamence w/out Intimidate). I mean Salamence has 10 more base HP than Crobat and Intimidate, yet Crobat takes this hit better. Poison/Flying doesn't resist Steel (at least I don't think the last time I checked). Can someone help me make sense of all this? |

0 | Those calcs are wrong, they're for a Scizor without Choice Band: Adamant, 252Atk, Scizor using Bullet Punch vs min/min Crobat: 394 Atk vs 196 Def & 311 HP (60 Base Power): 130 - 154 (41.80% - 49.52%) Adamant, 252Atk, CB Scizor using Bullet Punch vs min/min Crobat: 591 Atk vs 196 Def & 311 HP (60 Base Power): 195 - 229 (62.70% - 73.63%) With a CB, crobat is 2HKOd with or without Stealth Rock 100% of the time. SO it switches into one Bullet Punch, then dies from the next one. Adamant, 252Atk, CB Scizor using Bullet Punch vs min/min Salamence with Intimidate: 393 Atk vs 196 Def & 331 HP (60 Base Power): 130 - 154 (39.27% - 46.53%) Also why use Metal Kids calculator? The one on this site is known to be the most accurate at the moment. |

0 | Okay, thanks. That cleared it up. It really didn't make sense. Fortunately, I found out later that with max HP EV's and Defense EV's on Crobat, it can survive by taking somewhere from 32% to 40 something %. And Heat Wave can deal 93% to 110% without any SpAtk EV's. Whatever. |
