When you run out of ice, freeze your water.
0 | We're going to destroy this abomination to mankind. We're going to vaporize, burn, shred, mangle, and maliciously glare at ice. ... ****in' ice storm knocked out my power for five days. I nearly DIED. In all seriousness, though, really. Your ice. Here. Bring it. |

0 | But I need Ice to keep my water and Coke cold. :( Wait, my water turned green. *forefeits ice* I got some ice falling this morning. Lucky me, since I had to walk through it in shorts in a t-shirt after some INTENSE BADMINTON to get back into the school. >_> |

0 | INTENSE BADMINTON, huh? I think I played a couple matches of INTENSE BADMINTON before. Or it would be INTENSE if I was actually any good. Anyway. *cough* |

0 | Where do you live, Shadian? The same thing happened around my way, though we were the ONLY house on our block to still have power, because our house drew its power from the line behind it, the source the block behind us used. Scary thing is, the night the initial storm occurred, an enormous branch (hell, it had a network of branches that branched to IT) fell from a neighbor's yard and ripped our line out from the pole, leaving a live wire draped across the length of our lawn, however still connected to the box itself and supplying the house with power. The forces of nature TRIED to fucking cut us off. Yet another reason why I hate winter so frigging much. Anyway, from thursday night until today (well, I'm assuming; as of last night they still had no power) everyone on the block was still powerless. You'd think it was a ghost town, because nearly everyone had fled to hotels or relative's homes. Apparently the city forced Niagara Mohawk to go and repair people's power lines and reconnect them for no fee, because they normally never do that (as in they won't even do it for a fee; you have to hire an electrician yourself) and in the past, once a wire has been taken down by an "act of God" it's the homeowner's responsibility to get it back up. After calling today and finding out it wouldn't be covered by insurance, a call to Nimo and they came, sawed off a section of the branch to get at the wire, and reconnected it without so much as a protest. The guy even stepped in dog shit. I didn't feel too badly about it because we have enough problems with them keeping our goddamn blackouts to a minimum. Reportedly over the summer they were fined 8 million dollars because they exceeded the acceptable number of blackouts within a given period of time. |

0 | Ah, I live in southern Maine. Apparently all of New England suffered just as much. Also, it's snowing again tomorrow. If the power goes off again, someone is going to die. |
Dec 17 @ 01:07 ![]() |
0 | We're supposed to get snow and a lot of sleet too. I'm kinda surprised it hasn't already started brewing. Fortunately the branch that tore down our power line was not only the biggest, but the only one that could've taken our wire if it did fall. So we should be okay. |

We got like a quarter inch this morning, then it rained. 70% chance of snow or rain on Christmas Eve, though. And like 6-7 inches soon. >_> Oh wait NBC10's weather reports are never right. |

0 | I'm in NY. While we did get a lot of snow last night, it rained frequently throughout the day, and what hadn't already fully melted I easily shoveled away before it could freeze. My driveway is a killer even if it's only a little slick. |

0 | Until a Yoshi came floating by inside a bucket, ate a red watermelon and thawed me out, yes, I was trapped under ice. Though honestly it was more like "trapped inside a perfectly square ice cube, suspended in mid-air". Either way, it sucked. Thanks Yoshi! And remember, even having me in your mouth causes Everything Cancer! |
