Forum - Happy One Year Anniversary Libelldra

0
July 27th, 2007 was the day The Libelldra Forge first opened its doors to the world of Pokemon, as Pokemon Moveset and Strategy Discussion. Though the community was just starting, it had the right reasons to why people should consider becoming a member of PMSD. Fantasty, a well known person in the competitive world, created the Invisionfree board. To help him out, he also had Iggy_Koopa, Black Armor, Ruesap, Redsceptile, and TPX, other well known members of the competitive world. Originally PMSD was to be for Fantasty's own personal use, but he changed his mind and thought it would be more useful to the Pokemon world. Thus the topic on GameFAQS was made to advertise the site.

Elitism was a terrible disease and Fantasty did not want his site to catch it. He offered open analyses that anyone could attempt to make. This incentive was the strongest attraction that made people want to join PMSD and it was not long until PMSD would gain new members everyday. To accommodate for the new members, Jth, SNX7, and Zero were added to the staff. GenEric was added a couple of weeks later, too.

PMSD was going strong and steady at this point in time with members like Phiddlesticks and Ray_Gun but it seemed like there was something missing. Something that would unite the community: an official name. "The Libelldra Forge" was not chosen immediately like you would think. There was actualy a choice between Libelldra and The Forge but eventually those two would merge and become The Libelldra Forge on July 30th, 2007. It was the right choice. It has a ring to it right?

It was not a smooth ride for The Libelldra Forge as it would seem. Libelldra had its trials and tribulations just like every other site. We had our share of spammers and had to hand out our share of bans. Our first and probably the most memorable spammer would be crazy360. Crazy360 was hilarious with his random insults and it never got old. Other honorable mentions would be Sitting_Man and Anonymous. Our first Libelldra "n00b" would have to be Nick. Not only was his avatar Milhouse from The Simpsons, but he was completely oblivious to other members. He attempted a few analyses himself but lets just say they could have been better. Anyway, I'm digressing from the topic at hand.

Around the 5-6 month area, Libelldra had a rapid succession of new members along with some regulars in the IRC chat that was set up a few weeks before. On September 9th, we had a record 119 users on at one time! With this growth, a new question was brought to the table. Can Invisionfree handle the plethora of members and can it handle the powerhouse that Libelldra would soon become? The answer was no and Fantasty looked to branch out even further.

Polite, a friend of Iggy_Koopa on IRC, volunteered to develop and host a more reliable and proffessional Libelldra. It was an offer no one would or could refuse. Announcements were made of the new change that was soon to come and the community embraced it. We all looked forward to the change and anticipated it with open arms.

The new site was released on October 31, 2007 but an unexpected reaction happened. Some of the members did not like the new site. Apparently the site was too pink, when it really was not at all. This drove a lot of members away from Libelldra but it was not the sole reason for the screeching halt that came. The 'thing' that drove people to come to Libelldra was on pause. The Analyses forum was closed for revamp and there just was not much activity going on. One could say that Libelldra had its own recession.

We can look at the past and say we have been through little, but it has brought us together. We are a strong knitted community. We are The Libelldra Forge. A year has passed and we have many years left. Libelldra still is not in its prime but it will be soon enough. With the Analyses Forum open again, we have much to look forward to.

Happy birthday Libelldra. May you prosper forever.

P.S. Special thanks to menofuntall, CKY, and Ruesap for making corrections and such.  Also special thanks to Masterofidiots and Gameboy3333 for letting me take over the topic.  Oh, and I can't forget about Fantasty for making the site.

Well, it's done!

Happy anniversery, although I only came in around September, it's been interesting to see Libelldra go through the changes from my point of view. It's cool to see a site get so far compared to the other ones that start out on Invision Forums and stuff like that. I don't really go on IRC, but it's still been fun.

Good job guys.

Lol no.

We have a coding proffessional in Polite.  Even if you could make something, only he has access to update the site :/

We need programmers like you wouldn't believe.

For some reason I was expecting something more in-depth.

More dramatic.

I don't know why.

As I side note, I know nothing but basic HTML. Sorry, no help from me for programming, though I'm taking courses (well, a course) during the school year as well. =\

How in-depth can you get? There wasn't a lot going on >_>

Unless you wanted me to mention what forums were created in chronological order which is pointless imo.

*shrugs*

Same as Flounder. Basic HTML. I wish I could do something more than just the analysis. ;_;

In other news... Long live Libelldra!

Happy Anniversary Libelldra. It has been cool being around since the beginning, watching the site change and grow. Here's hoping a similar topic can be made next year (and that we learn from our mistakes and actually plan it in advance next time!)

I was also hoping for something more exciting but oh well.

I wonder what this site will be like a year from now.

I'll be going off to college so >_> hmm.

Hopefully we break 1000 in members. :)

So what? I have those national exams... *shrugs*

And we'd have 1000 members by now if Fant and polite didn't deleted those with less than 2 posts. >_>
