0 | [GLOBAL INFO] Analysis: Infernape [DEFENSIVE COMBINATIONS] Infernape only suffers from 4 weaknesses: Flying, Psychic, Ground and Water, and resists Bug, Ice, Steel, Dark, Grass, and Fire. Nothing resists Flying, Ground and Water all at once, however there are a few things that can resist two and take minimal damage from the others. For one, Bronzong with Levitate resists or is immune all of the attacks except Water, and can shrug off most attacks. Like wise, a Levitating Bronzong is only weak to Fire, so Infernape can switch into the fire attacks that harm it. Infernape’s two biggest threats against it are Starmie and Gyarados, which can both be dealt with using Cressilia. Infernape also covers up Cressilia’s two most prominent weaknesses of Dark and Bug, but you have to be wary of a potential Pursuit on the switch. Slowbro resists both Psychic and Water, and doesn’t mind taking the almost always Physical Flying and Ground attack, due to its high Defense. Infernape also deals fairly well with Slowbro’s weaknesses to Grass, Dark, and Bug, as it resists all three, and all of those types have a weakness to Infernape’s STAB Attacks. Slowking and Starmie both share the same typing, but are both less bulky then Slowbro in terms of absorbing the Physical Ground and Flying. Skarmory functions well in absorbing Infernape’s weaknesses to Ground, Psychic, and Flying. Water is the only concern, as most Water attacks are special, which hits Skarmory’s weaker Special Defense for Neutral Damage. Infernape also covers up 1 of 2 weaknesses for Skarmory, that being the weakness to Fire attacks. Zapdos scares off the Bulky Waters that can also threaten Infernape, as well as absorbing two of his weaknesses. Zapdos’s STABed Attacks deal with the likes of Starmie, Vaporeon, Suicine and Milotic, however can’t do much to Swampert unless you carry HP Grass. Luckily, Infernape’s Grass Knot can handle that. Infernape can absorb the Ice attacks coming at Zapdos, or Zapdos can roost of the damage as well as lose its Ice weakness. [/DEFENSIVE COMBINATIONS] [/GLOBAL INFO] [SET] Name: MixApe Item: Life Orb IVs: 15 HP, 30 Speed for HP Ice, 26 HP for Grass Knot EVs: 68 Atk / 252 Speed / 190 SpAtk Nature: Naive Stats: 293 HP / 261 Atk / 178 Def / 345 Speed / 291 SpAtk / 160 SpDef Moves: -Grass Knot/HP Ice -Close Combat -Nasty Plot -Flamethrower [/SET] [SET DESCRIPTION] The most used set for Infernape. Infernape is the epitome of a mixed sweeper, with a good movepool, good STAB attacks from each side of the spectrum, and good sweeping stats. 68 Attack guarantees that Blissey will be OHKOed by Close Combat, after factoring in Stealth Rock and Leftovers. The IV Drop in speed is the most efficient way to use HP Ice. Since Infernapes with max Speed would only tie with other Infernapes, you don’t lose a major part of your game. With the normally used drop in Attack, you’d have to take 4 SpAtk EVs and put them into Atk. If you aren’t running HP Ice, ignore the drop in Speed IVs, and run 26 HP IVs, which gives you more times to attack with Life Orb. The 15 HP IVs go with HP Ice, as it requires an odd number to keep HP Ice at Max Power. There is a common debate when using this set. Run HP Ice or Grass Knot? HP Ice handles the 4x Weak Dragons, Flygon, Garchomp, Salamence, and Dragonite. Salamence’s Bulkiest Special Set, the Special Bulky DD Set, is a guaranteed OHKO with Stealth Rocks in affect. You also outspeed it, stopping it from Roost before hand. Dragonite, Flygon, and Garchomp, however, while facing Dragonite and Garchomp, the possibility of running into a Choice Scarf or Yache Berry is present. HP Ice also handles Gliscor in one hit, although it could already be 2HKOed by Flamethrower. Grass Knot, on the other hand, helps deal with Infernape’s problem of Bulky Waters, and Physically Defensive pokemon such as Hippowdon and Donphan. Suicine without a CM under its belt faints to a Nasty Plot boosted Grass Knot. Swampert is finished by the same move without the boost. With a Nasty Plot under Infernape, all Bulky Waters that threaten it are 2HKOed. [/SET DESCRIPTION] [OTHER OPTIONS] Overheat is an option over Flamethrower, as it allows Infernape to OHKO Support Cresselia with Stealth Rock support and a Nasty Plot. With Blaze activated onto these boosts, it is guaranteed against even the Bulkiest of Cressilias. You could also run 128 Atk on this set, as it is guaranteed to OHKO Blissey without Stealth Rock support. Fire Blast could also be an option over Flamethrower, to do more damage overall, but the accuracy can cost you at times.
