| | Level: 1 | Omega Flare is diiiiiiiiiiiiiisgustingly powerful. Magus, Robo and Lucca. Unfortunately thanks to Magus it requires the use of a rock.
Come to think of it I think all of the rock triple techs are really, really strong since you have to go out of your way to get them. But Omega Flare? That's something you feed to Lavos. It's the SpecsMence Draco Meteor of CT.
The triple involving Crono, Ayla and Robo I believe is also incredibly strong. Again, attributed to all three having great physical strength.
Triple Raid, Crono, Frog and Robo, while not ball bustingly strong, is I think the earliest TT you can learn because the techs required for it are all learned very early. You can get it the moment you're able to use Frog and Robo together, which IIRC is before Magus' Castle, and I'm almost positive I was able to hit Flea for over 1000 a pop with it. Low MP cost too.
Otherwise I have to agree with you that a lot of TTs are not worth it given the cost, and besides really late game if you've gone out of your way to get stuff like the Rainbow for Crono, you'll want to be attacking with him, not even using Luminaire. Magus has such ridiculous magic that he gets by just using his single techs, but you seem to be very aware of that.
Back to Double Techs, Falchon Hit and Antipode series never stop being useful, and Fire Bomb (Lucca and Robo) is also very strong. Almost any tech involving Ayla will be physical and hit single targets extremely hard. Come to think of it, most techs that use Robo are also very good, plus he has plenty of magic ones too. Beast Toss is also great, and Boogie inflicts Stop (which works on the Golem Twins and allows you to hit them with physicals without getting Iron Orbed or fireballed.) | | #135

| | Level: 1 | One thing, I'm wondering if they'll rename some of the attacks like they did in the FF ports and remakes? I'm thinking mainly of the attacks with numbers after them, like Fire 2... I'm not expecting Fira like in FF, especially since there's no Firaga to complete the trio.
Unless, of course, you take into account the fact that Magus' early spells are 30% more powerful than their Crono/Marle/Lucca counterparts off the same level and magic power. Add Magus' extreme magic stat to the mix, and you got carnage. Then again, Dark Matter only has a 15.5 multiplier, the worst for ultimate moves that use the regular magic damage formula. Not a big deal considering the only one that's significantly higher than that is Luminaire's 20.5, and off Crono's less interesting magic stat it's not that much of a threat unless you stuff him full of Magic Tabs over several playthroughs. At which point you plow through the game with anything anyway. But I'm ranting now, so on to something else...
I'm wondering what kind of difficulty the bonus dungeon(s) will have. If the Dragon's Den is any indication, the Black Omen will look like Gato in comparison, which is what I'm looking for. Especially in a game where, unlike in FF6, there's no instant-win move (though Kaiser Dragon and Omega Weapon have ways to shrug off Entice, to their credit).
Edit: To answer your question, Rose, I used, in order:
- Slash Beast's stage from Megaman X4 - The Project Chaos remix of Flying Battery Zone from Sonic 3 & Knuckles - The F-Zero X Guitar Arranged remix of Silence, from, well, F-Zero X | | #139

| | Level: 1 | Kaiser and Omega merely forced you to reuse it, but as I've said before there's little more boring than just giving everything charm status.
I dunno about the difficulty; granted the movies only showed two different battles, one for each dungeon, and it was nothing more than a character landing a killing blow on an enemy. I don't mind the challenge being derived mainly from puzzles and the occasional boss, but I would like some nasty enemy encounters (especially now that they're not random in CT; you kill a rotten little creature, and you're guaranteed not to fight it again until you meet a formation with it somewhere else on the map. None of that three steps, LOL HELLO AGAIN crap.)
The dimensional vortexes also look like they'll be much more fiendish than the Lost Sanctum, which by video is given the appearance of a glorified fetch quest with an obligatory boss to wrap it up.
Here, Slowflake- someone showed me a page out of an article that briefly discusses the new dungeons (not really saying anything about difficulty however) and I'll repeat the blurbs verbatim:
"Halfway through the game, mysterious portals appear in prehistoric times and in the middle ages, both leading to an area called the Lost Sanctum. Consisting of a village, several field areas, and two full-fledged dungeons, the Lost Sanctum adds hours of fresh gameplay through multiple sidequests that intertwine between the two eras.
Three additional Dimensional Vortex bonus dungeons open up once you've completed Chrono Trigger's main quest. We don't want to spoil everything, so we'll leave it at this: the dungeons feature new items, enemies, and bosses, and one of them even incorporates a fabled "lost" area that was reportedly planned for Chrono Trigger's initial release. Conquer all three Dimensional Vortices and you'll get the opportunity to square off against a brutal new final boss and witness a new ending (bringing the total ending count to more than 13.)"
So, yeah, nothing about difficulty, but they did mention the Singing Mountain and because the Lost Sanctum is said to open halfway through (as indicated by the video, apparently it's after you get the modified Epoch) I doubt there's much in the way of new enemies. In fact, in the only part of the vid showing a battle, it's against black two-headed serpents, which are probably the Ruminators you saw throughout Black Omen. | | #140
